# July 2025: Games that define the summer

This July is striking in its diversity: the return of classics, new titles in genres that have not been updated for a long time, experiments with AI, procedural generation, biopunk, and rhythm strategies. More than 25 releases - and almost every one of them deserves attention.

## Mecha BREAK

Release date: 2 July (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S)

The Asian competitor to Titanfall and Pacific Rim became a major sensation with a beta launch that attracted 300,000 players at once. It is a team multiplayer game with financial ambitions: three modes - classic 3×3, large-scale 6×6, and PvE/PvP hybrid with elements of an action shooter. By changing the game style, from jet ninjas to heavy tanks, each mech is upgraded promptly. The main feature is combat special effects, vertical battles, and the ability to upgrade every detail of the pilot. Mecha BREAK claims to be a multiplayer hit this summer.

## Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream

Release date: 15 July (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S)

This isometric stealth project from the veterans of the AAA sector (Battlefield, Mirror's Edge, Little Nightmares) resembles a hybrid of Inside and Disco Elysium. The protagonist, Hannah, investigates the disappearance of her brother in a depressing diesel-punk city with a touch of Scandinavian modernism. Commandos-style puzzles and stealth are interspersed with a cinematic storyline. Eriksholm challenges the player to improvise and make tactical decisions.

## Donkey Kong Bananza

Release date: 17 July (Switch 2)

A standard platformer featuring Donkey Kong with bright humour and new features. DK can break walls, dig tunnels, and use found objects as platforms or weapons. Animal shapes have been added to the skill tree: zebra for speed, ostrich for flight. In co-op, Pauline plays the second role. The game doesn't look like a hit, but with the new Switch 2, it has every chance to sweeten the summer.

## Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Release date: 24 July (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S)

A soul-style action game from Leenzee about the pirate Bai Wuchang in the dark world of the late Ming Dynasty. She is armed with swords, spears, axes, and witchcraft spells (up to 40 options). Death gives a special mark that changes the balance of power/defence; repeated death leads to the appearance of a demonic double. A non-linear world open for exploration.

## Killing Floor 3

Release date: 24 July (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S)

The third instalment of the cult co-op survival series from Tripwire Interactive. The attack of the Zed mutants continues, but in the new world of the XXI century: now the enemies are faster, more cunning, and more aggressive. The MEAT system makes executions more brutal. Players can increase their arsenal, customise character classes, and take part in team assaults. Instead of the announcement in March, we're going to release it with additional changes.

## Grounded 2

Release date: 29 July (PC, Xbox X/S)

The sequel to the cult survival game world from Obsidian and Eidos-Montréal. You and three friends are returned to Brookhollow Park with an expanded landscape: forests, anthills, ponds, and human footprints. New biomes add challenges, and the insect AI gets smarter. A combination of survival, crafting, and campaigns with a very atmospheric world scale.

## Grounded 2 (preview) 

Release date: 29 July (Xbox Series X|S, PC)

The world has become even more vertical: now the player not only explores the surface, but also moves through a complex multi-level ecosystem - plant crowns, tunnels underground, and hidden nests. Smart insects pose a particular danger. They unite in colonies, patrol the territory, and are capable of coordinating actions and chasing.

A new mechanic is riding insects, which can be tamed, trained, and used as transport or combat assistants. An RPG pumping system for equipment and weapons has been added, as well as improved base construction.

## Mycopunk 

Release date: 10 July (PC)

An intriguing biopunk action game where the player fights aggressive fungal organisms in a procedurally generated environment. The flora here is not a decoration, but an evolving and adapting enemy. Each contaminated biome is a new challenge for the player.

## Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4

Release date: 11 July (PC, PS4/5, Xbox One/X|S, Switch, Switch 2)

The most popular arcade skate games of the early 2000s have been completely updated. The game now looks modern, the tricks are realistic, and the soundtrack is a carefully selected mix of classics and new tracks. Online modes have also been relaunched.

## Patapon 1+2 Replay

The iconic rhythm strategy game from PSP now looks and sounds different. Patapons - miniature warriors - move, attack and defend to the music, and the player acts as a drummer commander. The game has been updated graphically and adapted to modern gamepads.
